BELGIAN A109 DEMO TEAM NEW PAINT SCHEME

On January 28th at Beauvechain Air Base, the Belgian Air Force has officially revealed one of their A109s (H46) with this stunning special paint job named "Razzle Blades". The helicopter which belongs to the 1st Wing helicopter will be flown by the Belgian Air Force A109 Display Team this year and beyond. To make it even more special the helmets of the pilots and the face masks of the entire team were also specially designed to match this special paintwork. A109 Display Team as well as the other display teams of the Belgian Air Force serve as ambassadors for the Belgian Air Component and also to promote the Belgian Armed Forces to the next generation of future pilots.

The current special paint scheme was designed by the Dutch artist Jeroen van Veenendaal from Kerosene Creations, who designed the previous paint scheme of the Belgian A109 Display Team as well as the special paint scheme for the CH-47 Chinook of the Royal Netherlands Air Force on the occasion of the 298 Squadron's 75th anniversary.

It was also confirmed that if the COVID-19 measures allow it the team will display at the Belgian Air Force Days in Florennes on June 26th and 27th, the Sanicole International Airshow on September 10th to 12th, as well as other airshows all around Europe and other local events planned for the 75th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force.

In the early 1990s, Belgium had procured a total of 46 Agusta A109s to replace the aging fleet of the Alouette II’s as of today 18 A109s are still flying with the Belgian Air Components and one example with commandant pilot Jo Jacobs and commandant pilot Stijn Soenens will perform an aggressive dynamic display at a number of events all over Europe with the schedule to be announced in February/March.
