RED ARROWS GROUNDED AFTER HAWK CRASH

The entire Hawk T.1 fleet has been temporarily "paused" by the British Ministry of Defence following the Hawk T.1 crash in Cornwall yesterday. The crashed Hawk T.1 was taking part in a training exercise with the crew from the 736 Naval Air Squadron - based nearby in Cornwall.

The two pilots onboard managed to eject from the aircraft and sustained non-life-threatening injuries and currently remain in hospital in a stable condition. This was the first Royal Navy ejection in 18 years with the last being Martin-Baker's 7,000th ejection back in 2003

The RAF Spokesperson said:

"Safety is our paramount concern. The RAF has decided to temporarily pause Hawk T1 operations, as a precautionary measure, while investigations are ongoing.”

"We will continue to review the situation as further information becomes available.”

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows which also operate the Hawk T.1 would typically be spending this time training for their displays in the upcoming airshow season.
