Belgian Air Force has applied a special paint scheme on one of their six remaining C-130 Hercules transport aircraft to honour the aircraft and the 50 years of tireless efforts of the flight crew, maintenance and support staff. The Lockheed C-130H Hercules (CH-01) was the first of the type to be delivered to the Belgian Air Force on the 25th of July 1972 and will remain in active service for another 10 months before being retired later this year and replaced with a more modern Airbus A400M Atlas.

“The 20th Tactical Air Transport Squadron of the 15th Wing Air Transport in Melsbroek has been equipped with the Lockheed C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft since 1972. After almost 50 years of loyal service within the Belgian Air Force, our world-famous workhorses will retire at the end of this year. For almost half a century, the Belgian C-130 Hercules aircraft, crews, technicians and support staff have more than once proved their dedication and professionalism during many national and international assignments and operations. In order to thank the 20Sqn Tactical Airlift and her Mighty Hercules for their efforts and 'Tenacity' spirit, CH-01 has a unique paint scheme.”
