Bucharest International Airshow Expands to Three Days in 2025

The Bucharest International Airshow becomes a three-day event in 2025, marking a significant evolution for one of Eastern Europe’s most anticipated aviation gatherings. Originally scheduled for August 29-30, with the 29th set aside for rehearsals and arrivals and the 30th as the full airshow day on Saturday, the event has now grown to include two full airshow days, stretching from August 29 to 31. This expansion reflects the airshow’s rising stature and the enthusiasm it generates among aviation fans both locally and abroad.

Held at Aeroportul International Bucuresti Baneasa and Romaero S.A., the Bucharest International Airshow—or BIAS 2025—will offer a richer experience with this extended format. The additional day allows organisers to spread out the excitement, starting with an opening day focused on a general aviation exhibition and training flights, followed by two days of high-octane aerial performances that promise to captivate attendees.

The official word came straight from the event’s Facebook page, where organizers shared the exciting news: BIAS 2025 will kick off with a special three-day edition, running from August 29 to 31. On the 29th, visitors can explore planes displayed on the ground, watch training flights, and meet aviation professionals, setting the stage for the main event.

The 30th and 31st will be the show days, packed with dynamic displays that highlight both international and Romanian talent. Among the headliners, the Patrouille de France will make their Romanian debut, bringing over 70 years of acrobatic excellence with their Alpha Jets. The UK’s Red Arrows, known for their jaw-dropping precision, will also take to the skies, joined by the Romanian Aeroclub and Romanian Air Force, who plan to dazzle with parachutists, gliders, military jets, and skilled acrobats. With more than 200 pilots and aircraft from Romania and beyond, the event is shaping up to be a blockbuster, and admission remains free, ensuring everyone can witness the action firsthand.

The lineup of confirmed performers already hints at the scale of BIAS 2025, with plenty more participants expected to join. On the military front, the French Air & Space Force will deploy eight Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets with the Patrouille de France, while the German Air Force contributes a Eurofighter Typhoon from Tactical Air Force Wing 31. The Hellenic Air Force’s Beechcraft T-6A Texan II, flown by Demo Team "Daedalus," adds to the mix, and the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows will perform a flypast with nine BAE Hawk T1s. Civilian performers are just as impressive, featuring the Mil Mi-2 from Heliforce, six Extra 300s from the Hawks of Romania, and a stunning array of historic aircraft from the Flying Bulls, including the Douglas DC-6B, North American P-51D Mustang, Chance Vought F4U-4 Corsair, and BO 105 C. This blend of modern military power and classic civilian machines ensures a show that appeals to every kind of aviation enthusiast.

The Bucharest International Airshow’s location at Aeroportul International Bucuresti Baneasa and Romaero S.A. plays a big role in its appeal. Nestled in Romania’s bustling capital, the venue combines a historic aviation legacy with easy access, making it a natural hub for such an event. For foreign aviation fans, though, the real draw lies in what they can’t see anywhere else. The Romanian Air Force often rolls out aircraft that rarely perform outside the country, offering a rare glimpse into Romania’s military aviation heritage. These homegrown displays, paired with top-tier international acts, have turned BIAS into a pilgrimage site for enthusiasts eager to catch something unique. The extra day in 2025 only sweetens the deal, giving visitors more time to soak in the sights, from static displays to the roar of engines overhead.

With this expansion to three days, BIAS 2025 is poised to cement its reputation as a standout event on the global airshow calendar. The combination of a world-class lineup, a prime location, and the chance to see Romania’s elusive aircraft in action makes it a can’t-miss experience. Whether you’re there to marvel at the Patrouille de France’s tight formations, cheer on the Red Arrows, or get up close to aviation history, Bucharest is ready to deliver a weekend that celebrates the power and beauty of flight like never before.
