DANISH AIR SHOW TO RETURN IN 2022

The Royal Danish Air Force has confirmed that the Danish Air Show that has been cancelled due to Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021 will return this year.

Every two years the Royal Danish Air Force organises a Danish Air Show at one of its three Air Bases, Aalborg Air Base, Karup Air Base or Skrydstrup Air Base. Although previously an annual event the Danish Air Show is now held every two years, hosted at a different Air Base each time. In between those two years, a much smaller show is held at Roskilde Airport officially known as the Copenhagen Airport-Roskilde which is located 4 nautical miles southeast of Roskilde near the town of Tune.

The Danish Air Show is the largest single-day event in Denmark and one of the biggest airshows in Scandinavia. The airshow attracts between 100,000 and 150,000 spectators, as well as a number of military and civilian performers. Besides the flying displays the Danish Air Show also offers static displays of many different aircraft giving visitors the chance to see all the aircraft up close, furthermore, there is a number of exhibitions of Danish military units and various civilian companies with relation to aviation. In 2016 the show beat both national and international records when more than 150,000 spectators visited the Skrydstrup Air Base.

The statement from the organizers:

"After an involuntary break due to Covid-19, we are now finally resuming the Danish Air Show. This means that on 19 June 2022, we will open the gates to Karup Airport, and invite the whole of Denmark inside for a day with lots of experiences for the whole family.

We guarantee you a great experience when large aircraft demonstration teams make spectacular formations and fighter jets, helicopters and transport aircraft perform wild maneuvers in the air and the special operations forces show what fabric they are made of.

You can also get up close and personal with lots of historic and state-of-the-art military aircraft and see exhibits of equipment and units from across the Armed Forces.

When we hold the Danish Air Show, we do it to show what we do both at home and abroad, and of course we also hope to be able to inspire some of you to an exciting life and job in the Air Force or elsewhere in the Armed Forces.

Well greeted at the Danish Air Show at Karup Airport on Sunday 19 June .

There is free admission and the gates open at 0700. The flying part of the program lasts from 1000-1600."
