Exciting New Additions to RIAT 2024 Line-Up Unveiled

Following Tuesday’s confirmation of the F-15QA, the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) has announced a series of thrilling new additions to the RIAT 2024 line-up, promising an unforgettable experience for aviation enthusiasts and spectators alike.

In a rare treat for attendees, the ‘Viper Line’ will feature a pair of Moroccan F-16s, making their first appearance at the Air Tattoo in nearly three decades. The Royal Moroccan Air Force will send a single-seat F-16C and a twin-seat F-16D, both Block 52 models equipped with conformal fuel tanks and adorned in striking desert camouflage. This exotic addition is anticipated to draw significant attention at RAF Fairford in July.

After a hiatus of two years, the Royal Norwegian Air Force is set to return to RIAT with a robust show of support, tying into the NATO 75th Anniversary theme. In a historic first, the ‘Yellow Sparrows’ display team from the Bardufoss flying training school will make their debut in the UK. The team flies the SAAB Safari, marking the first instance a Norwegian Safari will grace British skies. This rare appearance is expected to be a significant highlight of the show.

Adding to the excitement, the Royal Norwegian Air Force will also showcase its F-35A Lightning and AW101 SAR Queen for the first time at RIAT, alongside a C-130J Hercules, all of which will be available for static display.

Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, RIAT 2024 will feature several D-Day-themed aircraft. Aero Legends will present their C-47B Dakota, painted in RAF markings, which will arrive on Friday and remain on static display throughout the weekend. Additionally, the newly restored ‘Night Fright’ Dakota is expected to participate once it completes its post-restoration first flight.

In alignment with the ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ theme, RIAT 2024 will also showcase a pair of electrically powered aircraft for static display. The Pipistrel Velis Electros, operated by NEDOair, are scheduled to arrive on Friday, highlighting advancements in sustainable aviation technology.

Furthermore, for only the third time in RIAT’s history, a Skyhawk will be featured. Top Aces will send one of their A-4N advanced aggressor Skyhawks for static display, adding a unique element to the diverse line-up.

However, HM Coastguard has announced with regret that their aircraft will no longer be able to attend RIAT 2024.

With these exciting additions, RIAT 2024 is shaping up to be a remarkable event celebrating aviation heritage, cutting-edge technology, and international cooperation. Enthusiasts and spectators are encouraged to mark their calendars for this extraordinary showcase at RAF Fairford.
