Flying Bulls Set to Thrill at Bucharest International Airshow 2025

The Flying Bulls are gearing up for a grand return to the Bucharest International Airshow (BIAS) in 2025, and they’re bringing some serious firepower with them. This beloved team of aviation wizards will showcase four of their standout aircraft, promising a display that’ll have enthusiasts buzzing with excitement.

Hailing from Salzburg, Austria, the Flying Bulls are known for their jaw-dropping fleet of historic planes and helicopters, each one a piece of flying history restored to perfection. At BIAS 2025, they’ll roll out the Douglas DC-6B, North American P-51D Mustang, Chance Vought F4U-4 Corsair, and BO 105 C—a lineup that blends vintage charm with sky-high thrills.

The Flying Bulls aren’t just about flashy shows; they’re a crew dedicated to keeping aviation’s past alive. Their collection is a treasure trove of machines that have seen war, carried presidents, and defied the odds. Take the Douglas DC-6B, for instance—this beauty started life in 1958 as Yugoslavia’s Marshal Tito’s personal ride, decked out with plush interiors for VIPs. Later, it flew Zambia’s President Kenneth Kaunda before sitting abandoned in Africa. Rescued by the Flying Bulls in 2000, it got a four-year makeover and now shines as a time capsule of the golden age of flight.

Then there’s the P-51D Mustang, nicknamed "Nooky Booky IV." Built in 1944, this World War II fighter dodged combat but served the Royal Canadian Air Force until 1958. It gained fame with legendary pilot Bob Hoover, who painted it bright yellow and flew it as "Ole Yeller" at airshows. The Flying Bulls snapped it up in 2021, giving it a new home and a fresh coat of polish for European skies.

The Chance Vought F4U-4 "Corsair" brings its own swagger. Born in 1945, this gull-winged beast served the U.S. Navy and Honduran Air Force before landing with the Flying Bulls in 1990. After a top-notch restoration, it’s one of the few Corsairs still flying, ready to flex its Pacific Theater legacy at BIAS. Rounding out the quartet is the BO 105 C, the world’s only fully aerobatic helicopter. With its hingeless rotor system, this 1970s marvel pulls off loops and rolls that leave crowds speechless—a true showstopper.

The Flying Bulls are no strangers to Bucharest. They’ve been wowing BIAS crowds for years, each visit upping the ante. Back in 2017, they flew in with the B-25 Mitchell, T-28 Trojan, F4U Corsair, and two Dornier Alpha Jets. In 2018, they mixed it up with the B-25, Corsair, P-38 Lightning, and Alpha Jets. By 2021, their display was a full-on spectacle, featuring the Alpha Jet, B-25J Mitchell, P-38 Lightning, Corsair, T-28B Trojan, and BO 105 C. Most recently, in 2024, they kept the momentum going with the B-25, P-38, Corsair, and T-28.

For 2025, BIAS is shaping up to be a global affair. The French Air & Space Force will dazzle with eight Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets of the Patrouille de France, weaving through the sky in perfect harmony. The German Air Force is sending a Eurofighter Typhoon from Tactical Air Force Wing 31 for a solo display that’ll showcase raw power. Hungary’s Heliforce joins the party with a Mil Mi-2 helicopter, while Romania’s own Hawks of Romania aerobatic team will soar with at least six Extra 300s, proving homegrown talent can steal the show.

The RAF Red Arrows are set to swoop in for a flypast, adding a splash of British red to the mix. And there’s more on the horizon—expect additional civilian teams and Romanian Air Force aircraft to round out the lineup. That’s a big deal for spotters, since Romanian military planes rarely strut their stuff outside the country, making BIAS a magnet for aviation fans far and wide.

The Flying Bulls’ return isn’t just another airshow act—it’s a love letter to aviation’s past and a thrill ride all in one. Their four aircraft tell stories of war, resilience, and craftsmanship, brought to life with every roar of an engine and twist in the sky. Pair that with a packed roster of international talent, and BIAS 2025 is poised to be a weekend where history meets high-flying action.
