Jet Pitts First Confirmed Performer for Midlands Air Festival 2025

Ragley Hall, UK – As the 2024 airshow season draws to a close, anticipation is already mounting for next year’s events. The Midlands Air Festival has wasted no time in announcing its first confirmed performer for 2025: Richard Goodwin and his extraordinary Jet Pitts (G-JPIT) will be performing over the Ragley Hall on Saturday, the 31st of May and Sunday, the 1st of June.

Built from scratch over a period of four years, the Jet Pitts is based on the Pitts S2S fuselage and incorporates all the tried-and-tested modifications from Goodwin’s famed Muscle Bi-Plane, the G-EWIZ. One of the most significant differences is its unique wing design, crafted by Eddie Saurenman Aero Works. This innovation features larger ailerons and increased wing area, providing a phenomenal roll rate and superior low-speed handling.

The Jet Pitts is powered by two ATM Lynx Jet turbines, each delivering 700 lbs of thrust. Combined with an 8.5 Ltr Lycoming engine, the aircraft achieves a total thrust of 1700 lbs, while weighing only 1550 lbs. This dual propulsion system offers a unique capability for aerial entertainment, making it a standout at airshows across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

In a Facebook post announcing Goodwin’s return, the Midlands Air Festival organizers expressed their excitement: “It’s time to let you have a peek behind the scenes at the Midlands Air Festival 2025! The last time Rich Goodwin flew with us, it was in his conventional Pitts aerobatic aircraft. Now his many fans will be delighted to know we have invited him back in his outrageous jet-powered Pitts S2. It behaves like a rocket and sounds like rolling thunder. Rich has been perfecting his display and we think it will be stunning in the intimate surroundings of the Ragley Hall Estate!”

The Midlands Air Festival 2025 scheduled for 30 May - 1 June 2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable experience, with Goodwin’s Jet Pitts set to be a highlight. Aviation enthusiasts and spectators alike can look forward to a display of aerial prowess and engineering excellence.
