RIAT 2024: Aircraft from the UK, Germany, Canada, and Poland Announced

The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2024 is gearing up to be an extraordinary event, boasting a lineup of aircraft from the UK, Germany, Canada, and Poland who have now officially agreed to participate.

In this week's update, the Polish Air Force brings thrilling news as the latest F-16 operator to confirm their presence. The renowned 'Tiger Demo Team' will present a dynamic flying display showcasing the Block 52 variant of the F-16, complete with conformal fuel tanks. This dazzling performance, a sight unseen in the UK since 2018, is highly awaited by passionate aviation fans. The team has meticulously designed a new display routine, ensuring a briefer yet more impactful performance characterized by precise high G manoeuvres and an intensified utilization of afterburner. This adjustment represents a notable shift from their previous routine, in which the aircraft's flight dynamics were more subtle and extended.

Additionally, the Polish Air Force will contribute an F-16D to the ‘Viper Line’ static display, also equipped with conformal fuel tanks. Support for the Polish F-16s will be provided by a C-130 Hercules, which is expected to remain at RAF Fairford throughout the show weekend, enhancing the static display lineup. Updates regarding additional support aircraft and other details will be provided in the coming weeks.

The Royal Air Force’s Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft will once again be featured on static display, positioned near the RAF Experience at the eastern end of the showground. Adding to the maritime allure, Flying Legends GmbH will debut their new F4U Corsair, a classic naval fighter known as ‘Devotion.’ This airframe is the last airworthy Corsair that saw action in the Korean War, serving with VMF-513. Complementing this historic aircraft, Flying Legends GmbH will also bring their P-51D Mustang “Frances Dell” for static display, adding to the historical richness of the exhibition. Visitors can enjoy a splendid collection of military aviation history with these remarkable aircraft on showcase.

The Royal Navy Black Cats helicopter display team is set to make a triumphant return to RIAT, performing daily with their pair of Wildcat helicopters after a prolonged hiatus. This thrilling aerial display is eagerly awaited by attendees. In addition, the Royal Navy will contribute a pair of Merlin HM.2 helicopters for static display, with one of the helicopters planned to be equipped with the Crowsnest airborne radar system, showcasing the latest in naval aviation technology.

The final addition to the lineup celebrating the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) centennial theme at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the CH-146 Griffon helicopter from the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment. This advanced helicopter will be meticulously transported to RIAT in a CC-177, showcasing the RCAF's remarkable logistical capabilities. The Canadian presence will shine through captivating ground displays, stirring performances by the RCAF Band, an engaging marquee hosting a variety of Canadian cultural exhibits, and an opportunity to interact with their centennial mascot, ‘Astra.’ A recent productive planning session with Canadian counterparts has solidified the assurance that the RCAF's participation will be a standout feature of RIAT 2024.

As preparations for RIAT 2024 progress steadily, the confirmed participation of a variety of aircraft from the UK, Germany, Canada, and Poland ensures that attendees can look forward to a truly remarkable experience. The combination of diverse aerial displays, static exhibits, and engaging cultural presentations will undoubtedly create an unforgettable celebration of aviation excellence and global cooperation at this year's event.
