The Belgian Armed Forces have long utilized the Agusta A109 helicopter across a variety of missions. This multifaceted aircraft serves as a dependable utility transport, adept at ferrying personnel and cargo to confined or hard-to-reach locations. Its agility and speed have proven invaluable in medical evacuations, allowing it to swiftly reach distressed areas and provide critical care. The A109 has also participated in numerous international missions, including deployments in Mali and the former Yugoslavia, further highlighting its operational versatility.

Beyond its transport and medical capabilities, the A109 plays a crucial role in special operations. It supports the insertion and extraction of special forces, operating effectively in challenging environments. Additionally, the helicopter contributes to special protection missions for high-profile summit meetings and anti-drone operations, demonstrating its adaptability in various security scenarios.

During the Sanicole Airshow, the 17 Squadron will perform a tactical demonstration that vividly illustrates the A109’s operational capabilities. The display will feature two helicopters executing a medevac mission, with one A109 modified for medical evacuation and another providing aerial cover. This demonstration will not only showcase the helicopter’s real-world applications but also pay homage to its enduring service as it nears the twilight of its active duty.

The International Sanicole Airshow, held at Hechtel-Eksel, is renowned for its spectacular displays and attracts aviation fans from around the globe.
