AIRPOWER ZELTWEG WILL TAKE OFF AGAIN
Just today it has been announced that Austria’s biggest airshow the AirPower will return in 2022. The AirPower22 will take place on Friday 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of September 2022 at the home of the Austrian Typhoons. The planning for the 2022 event has been going on for months but officially, no one wanted to confirm that Airpower would take off again next year before the contracts were signed. Now it's almost fixed: The AirPower will return in 2022.
AirPower is the name of an airshow organized by the Austrian Armed Forces, Red Bull and the State of Styria, which takes place every two years at the Air Base in Zeltweg. The first such event took place in Zeltweg on June 20th and 21st, 1997, at that time still under the name International Air Day
The air show has been called AirPower since 2000 and was held every two years from 2003 to 2013, but was cancelled in 2007 due to renovation work at the Air Base due to the introduction of the Eurofighters. AirPower is the biggest airshow in Austria and one of the biggest airshows in Europe attracting both military and civilian performers from all over the world.
In June 2014, the 2015 event was cancelled by Defense Minister Gerald Klug due to the tight budget situation. On October 19th, 2015, Defense Minister Klug held a press conference at the Zeltweg Air Base and presented the concept of Airpower 2016, which took place in Zeltweg on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2016.
Last AirPower took place on the 6th and 7th of September 2019.
